SAN FRANCISCO, 2020 - Our story begins during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. (sound familiar?) Furloughed from my job in the beauty industry, I were stuck at home burning candles when I started to notice that I was getting frequent headaches & found myself sort of choking on the scents of my favorite store bought candles. Even the fancy ones made me feel kinda sick! It took being locked at home to realize what was going on..
In April of 2020, I started researching & quickly found that I wasn't alone! Lots of people will not burn scented candles because of this very reason! But how could something so soul healing be so bad for you?? I love candles, I couldn't give them up.
So, I decided to make a candle for myself that gently filled a room without making us feel sick! After weeks of trial & error, we finally landed on two candles with the right combination of wax, fragrance, wick, & jar - Cali Coast & Mandarin Haze in the 9oz amber jar.
Once I started to give them out to my friends and family, it quickly became clear that something needed to come from this. I never intended to start a business but it just happened naturally & so quick.. Once we realized pandemica wasnt going anywhere anytime soon, My partner Sandro & I spent countless nights pouring & testing candles, naming them, writing descriptions, building a website.. and on August 4, 2020.. Hella Clean was born.
Our products are consciously crafted and safe for even the most sensitive of noses. We handpour each candle with our all natural blend of coconut & soy wax , clean fragrance, & cotton wicks. We strive to make our candles as sustainable as possible - Our labels are made from recycled kraft paper & all of our jars are fully recyclable once cleaned!
Each scent is inspired by our own nostalgic memories of California and crafted with you in mind. Our candles are designed to create lasting memories and will transform your space into a wonderland of hella clean fragrance. 😏

WHAT MAKES US CLEAN?
Coconut Soy Wax - Our proprietary blend of wax is made from 100% natural ingredients & is a blend of fruit waxes: coconut & soy. We use this type of wax because it burns slower, smoother, & cleaner than other waxes commonly used in candles on the market.
Clean Fragrances - Our fragrances are sourced from reliable & certified clean fragrance manufacturers from around the country. We then blend our own custom scents to create a unique fragrance for each candle. Our fragrances are always free from phthalates, parabens, PEGs, PFAs, & PBT's. Each scent has a VOC of 0 & are cruelty free + vegan.
Cotton Wicks - We use a cotton core wick that is designed for use in soft waxes such as coconut. Metal free. Clean burning. Low Soot content. The right wick is the key to a perfect candle. Just remember to trim the wick before each use!
